Tips to Fight Distraction, Stay Focused

This modern era of cell phones, smart TVs and social media provides us all with plenty of distractions throughout the day, but how do you keep these distractions at bay when you need to get some work done? At KB Staffing, we provide staffing solutions for numerous different industries, from office jobs to fieldwork and everything in between. We know there are times when it can be difficult to stay focused on the task at hand. However, being successful in any endeavor means giving your full attention to whatever you are doing — especially when on the job.

Staying Focused
We at KB Staffing understand that, as humans, we are all prone to distraction from time to time. That’s why we’ve created this list of suggestions to help you stay focused to achieve your goals.

  • Put the phone down
No, not if you are getting paid to be on the phone. If you are not a receptionist, telemarketer or other phone professionals, we strongly suggest that you silence your phone while at work. Our phones can become a huge time drain if we don’t manage them responsibly.
  • Shut the door
If you are working on something that allows you some privacy, take advantage of that by shutting the door or otherwise blocking out unnecessary interruptions. You may even want to use a sign kindly requesting to not be disturbed.
  • Get moving
If your work allows you more freedom of movement, take advantage of that, too. It can become monotonous being in one place for very long, so if you can move about while completing your tasks, do so.
  • Make a schedule
Creating a timeline and scheduling your tasks before you get started can help with better time management. Don’t forget to allow yourself adequate (but not excessive) breaks.
