Job Description: Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Shop Mechanic. This position involves performing maintenance and mechanical repairs on a range of trucks and heavy equipment in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and have hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other complex vehicle components. Responsibilities include diagnostics, routine inspections, and ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repair work on trucks, trailers, and construction equipment, including engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshoot issues using both manual and computerized tools.
  • Inspect, repair, or replace components such as belts, hoses, filters, and bearings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of all repairs, parts usage, and labor hours.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs in the field, as required.
  • Support vehicle inspections and ensure all equipment complies with regulatory safety and performance standards.
  • Operate trucks and equipment for testing or delivery purposes when needed.
  • Coordinate repair priorities and workload with management.
  • Follow manufacturer service protocols and industry best practices for maintenance and repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding service updates and equipment needs.

 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications preferred.
  • VALID CDL (CLASS A OR B) REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining trucks, trailers, and/or heavy equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specialized equipment such as loaders or excavators.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety compliance.
  • Welding skills and experience.
