Not surprisingly, qualifications are a big part of getting any job, and the rules are the same for moving from a temporary job to permanent position. As a human resources solution, we at KB Staffing do much of the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring for our clients in Central Florida and beyond. You have to meet the qualifications for the position you want, even if you’re already working as a temporary employee for the company.
So how do you make sure you meet those qualifications?
Again, you can use your access to the company to your advantage. Gather information about the position by asking for details from your coworkers, manager or hiring manager, and read the job posting if there is one. What qualifications is your employer asking for? What level of education is does the hiring manager require? What skills do you need, and what programs should you be familiar with?
Be realistic about your goals. If you don’t have the skills necessary for the job, then it will be much more difficult to get that position, no matter how much effort you put in as a temporary employee.
If your ideal position has qualifications you can’t match, don’t give up! Wait for a position to open up that fits you better, and one that allows you to apply the skills you’ve already adopted as a result of working for the company as a temporary employee. You still have your foot in the door—it just might take time to find the position that fits you, and vice versa.
