Read on for some resolution ideas that will help support your professional and personal development.
A Good Time for Positive Changes
Anytime is a good time to make some beneficial changes in your life, but January tends to be a time when this sort of mind frame is almost everyone’s priority. Here are a few resolutions that might be worth your time to make this year.
- Learn something new every day. Get yourself a word-of-the-day calendar, or renew your library card. Challenge yourself intellectually. Subscribe to a new magazine. Ask people about their area of expertise.
- Take up a new hobby. Have you ever wanted to paint, write poetry, or learn to roller skate? Do it! You don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it, and who knows – you may discover some hidden talents.
- Network more. Step out of your comfort zone and pledge to make more professional contacts. Join a business association, be more active on LinkedIn, get out there and show your face and put your best foot forward. You never know what doors might open when you do.
- Listen more, talk less. Some of us have a tendency to ramble or lecture at others without giving them a chance to speak much. If this is you, try to remember that you have two ears and one mouth so that you can listen twice as much as you speak. You’ll be amazed at what you can learn when you give others a chance to express themselves.
