Skills Every Warehouse Worker Needs
Since we do a lot of warehouse staffing at KB Staffing, we’ve learned what skills a successful employee needs to possess for these positions.

  1. Physical fitness. Warehouse work can be physically demanding. You need to be able to walk, bend, lift, squat, and be comfortable on your feet for long periods of time. Be sure that you are taking care of yourself to maintain a state of physical fitness.
  2. Team mentality. Warehouse work involves working with others toward a common goal, so you must be able to get along with coworkers and do your part. Having a positive attitude also helps a lot.
  3. Comfortable with new technologies. Even though it’s not office work, there are still times that you will need to use a computer or other technology effectively.
  4. Credentials and qualifications. You don’t need a degree to work in a warehouse, but if you are certified to operate a forklift or other machinery, that can help you go further.
  5. Familiarity with warehouse lingo. Every job has its own language, which can be confusing if you are new to the environment. If you don’t understand what your coworkers or supervisors are talking about, be sure to ask questions. Keep a memo pad handy so you can take notes, that way you won’t be asking the same questions repeatedly.
