Giving Back at Thanksgiving

At this time of year, we stop and take the time to appreciate all that we have in our lives. Food, family, friends, homes, and so much more. Many of us are blessed to have our daily needs under control, with a roof over our head and food on the table. We should never stop being thankful for even the most simple abundance.

As we continue to cultivate this sense of gratitude, we must also remember that not everyone around us is as fortunate. Homelessness and hunger is still a prevalent problem. We might not be able to solve this problem alone, but here at KB Staffing we are committed to doing what we can to help. We are proud to be involved with the kidsPACK program in Polk County, providing meals to kids who need them.

Why is kidsPACK needed? According to Florida Department of Education statistics, there are 3,793 homeless children living in Polk County. These are children who could be living in vehicles, in motels, transitional housing, or other unstable living situations. In many cases, the only access to regular, nutritious meals these kids have is at school. While breakfast and lunch five days a week is a good start, it doesn’t account for the weekends. That’s where kidsPACK steps in to bridge that gap.

KidsPACK provides nutritious, convenient food for kids to enjoy when they are out of school. Each pack contains non-perishable, individually portioned foods that can be easily opened and consumed by kids on their own. KB Staffing is one of many drop-off locations where you can donate these types of food, such as fruit cups and Chef Boyardee cups.

In the words of William Arthur Ward, “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” To this end, we give thanks by giving back to our community. We are more than just an expert staffing service, we are a group of people dedicated to the well-being of our community in Polk County. Help us give back this season by dropping off your donation at our office, located at 1560 6th St SE, Winter Haven. For more information on the kidsPACK program, visit http://www.kidspack.org/.
