FIRST and foremost, make sure you have enough staff scheduled for Black Friday weekend. Nothing could make your scheduled staff come unhinged faster than being shorthanded on the busiest weekend for businesses of the year! Also, be prepared with a backup plan, just in case some of your scheduled staff calls in sick.
SECOND, make sure your scheduled staff has thorough knowledge of all the specials. Nothing would be more stressful to a staff member (or worse, the customer) if he can’t provide accurate information about the sale. If he doesn’t know the answer to a customer’s question, what system is in place to make sure that he can get the answer quickly?
THIRD, consider a reward system for the best performing employee of the day or weekend. Nothing motivates a person more than a little positive incentive combined with some friendly competition amidst coworkers. Black Friday can be a very busy time, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t also be enjoyed by your staff.
