The weather is heating up, but you still want to look professional at a job interview.
Phew! It’s hot out there! Summertime is a great time to get a little more casual with the wardrobe. Depending on your work environment, you may be allowed to wear sandals, shorts, or sleeveless shirts. However, if you are interviewing for a new position, you might want to be a little more careful with your fashion choices, even in the summer heat. At KB Staffing, we want you to be a success, so here are some tips for what to wear to a summer interview.
For the Women
The best option for women is some nice slacks and a blouse. Khakis or dress pants are fine. A dress or skirt is also OK, but it should be at least knee-length. A sleeveless blouse will work, but the shoulder-width should be at least one inch – no spaghetti straps or tank tops. Don’t wear anything that shows your bra straps, or anything too revealing. Clothing should not be too tight or sheer, and tops should not be low-cut. Take it easy on things like accessories, makeup, and perfume. Wear close-toed shoes, but not sneakers. Heels are OK as long as they’re not too high. Make sure your outfit is clean and free of wrinkles and rips.
For the Men
It’s not necessary for men to wear a suit and tie anymore, but you still want to look nice. A good look is khakis with a belt and a button-down shirt or polo shirt. Clothes should not be baggy, wrinkled, or torn. Tuck your shirt into your pants. Wear close-toed shoes, but not sneakers. Dress shoes or boat shoes are perfect. No hats, and don’t go overboard on the cologne or body spray.
