After World War II, the GI Bill provided military personnel returning from the conflict with access to education and training for employment. The same programs have not been readily available to veterans of the Vietnam, Desert Storm, and now Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
On March 31, Gov. Rick Scott signed the Florida GI Bill, which waives tuition at state universities for veterans, financially supports improvements to military bases and efforts to create employment opportunities and attract more vets to the state.
“I remember when I got out of the Navy back in the early ’70s, it was not a good time to get out of the service in this country,” said Scott at the signing of the bill. “We’re going to make sure that this is the most military-friendly state for active-duty members, but also for all the veterans.”
Plant City alone has 67 military organizations and nine bases in the general area and it is only one of the towns in Polk County serviced by KB Staffing, which is perfectly positioned to assist with employment of vets.
