These are unfamiliar times. The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the way our society functions in some fundamental ways – most notably, in the way we conduct our personal interactions. Health and safety have taken a place in the spotlight as we work to protect ourselves and those around us.
So what does this mean for the workplace and how we look for work? KB Staffing has stayed open throughout the global health crisis and continued to operate in as safe a manner as possible. We have some insights on what to expect this year when it comes to Polk County employment opportunities.
How 2021 Will Be Different
Like everyone else, KB Staffing has made some changes to the way we conduct business over the past year. Most employers have had to make some adjustments to the way they hire and train new people. For example:
- Virtual interviews. Interviewing via video calls has become the norm. Some companies were already doing this prior to COVID, but with calls for social distancing holding firm, expect nearly all companies to conduct interviews virtually.
- The changing face of the modern workplace. Because many businesses had to shutter temporarily and then faced new protocols when reopening in terms of room capacities and social distancing, more companies are allowing workers to do their jobs remotely. It takes a certain amount of discipline to work from home, but a lot of people have been making it work this past year.
- Continuing education. Professional development is more important than ever! So many people have been laid off or had their hours reduced that the job market is even more competitive than it already was. Getting those additional certifications or getting a new degree online will help you stand out from the crowd.
